In addition, the center has Tuesday evening movie nights and weekly bicycle rides, and many groups are using the location for meetings. Performers will include Margaret Cho, Judy Gold, John Fugelsang, Jim Short and Chely Wright. The show begins at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m., when there will be a silent celebrity auction, along with a live celebrity auction during the show. It will be held at The Folly Theater, 300 W. 12th St., Kansas City, Mo. Ticket prices begin at $30, and VIP reception tickets are $100. In conjunction with the opening registration of the Heart of America Softball League’s Show Me Showdown Tournament, a street blast is scheduled for the evening of Oct. 11 in front of Social Bar at 1118 McGee from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m.” The entertainment will include: Colby Melvin and Brandon Brown, Eric Himan, Steve Grand, Latrice Royale, and Frenchie Davis. Three favorites from this year’s Kansas City Gay & Lesbian Film Festival are having encore screenings at the UMKC Student Union Theatre.”Here’s the lineup: The theme of the conference is “Leadership and the LGBT Experience.” Local, regional and national leaders who will share their knowledge and experiences include:• Kay Barnes (former Kansas City, Mo., mayor and MAGLCC board member) The keynote address will be given by Will Donius, former chairman and CEO of Pulaski Bank, St. Louis, and author of the bestseller Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius. It was a strong fund-raiser hosted by Dirty Dorothy and Michael Burnes, owner of Missie B’s, dressed as “Aunty M.” Through many generous donors at the raffle, matched by Burnes, they hit the $10,000 goal.
