Cash Flies in New 'Wolf of Wall Street' Clip

'Was all this legal?' asks Leonardo DiCaprio. 'Absolutely not'

In the new trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street , Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill throw hundred-dollar bills in the trash, toss cash off a balcony and tape currency to women's bodies. The movie, which is based on a true story, was directed by Martin Scorsese and comes out on Christmas Day. It follows the trajectory of DiCaprio's character, Jordan Belfort, a party-minded stockbroker who spent 22 months in prison for market manipulation and running a penny stock boiler room in the '90s. The cast also features Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Spike Jonze and Rob Reiner.

The trailer shows how Belfort met Hill's character, Donnie Azoff, at a time he was making $72,000 a month. It later depicts how the duo turned an auto-body shop into a successful brokerage firm that serviced the one percent. One scene shows Reiner – who plays Befort's father – freaking out over the fact that his son spent $26,000 on one dinner. "Dad, we're not poor anymore," Belfort tells him, then asks Azoff to tell his dad about "the sides." "What, they cure cancer?" asks Reiner's character. But it all makes sense when DiCaprio's character tells the camera, "The real question was this – was all this legal?" Then, after some select Bacchanalian scenes, he answers, "Absolutely not."
