Ghost Walk in Warren: The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County and the Trumbull County Historical Society will host its 2013 Ghost Walk on Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26. Guided tours will leave from First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave., every 10 minutes between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Actors and actresses will probe the secrets of Warren’s historic district and will explore the lives of those who lived and died in Trumbull County, including stops along Millionaires’ Row. Niles Cemetery Walk: Union Cemetery, intersection of Niles-Cortland Road and Vienna Ave., Niles, 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday. Historian Wendell Lauth will lead a tour through the grave sites at the cemetery, where guests will learn about prominent citizens who once lived in Niles. Included in the tour are the sites of President William McKinley’s sister, Abigail, as well as Harry Stevens, the Harris brothers, pioneer families and a famous murderer who committed his deadly crime on Christmas Eve in the late 1800s. Great Pumpkin Carve Out: Boardman Park. Carve-out contest will let artists create jack-o-lanterns and the park will provide clean-up; participants are asked only to take carving tools and newspaper. Prizes for pumpkins will be awarded in all age categories. A small charge per pumpkin is needed; cost is $3 for small, $4 for medium and $5 for large. The event will also feature Jocko the clown creating balloon art, as well as a bonfire. Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off: 10 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12, Parks Garden Center, 9010 state Route 62, Canfield. Giant pumpkins will be publicly weighed and prizes will be awarded for the heaviest giant pumpkin, watermelon, tomato and Halloween pumpkin, as well as widest sunflower head and longest gourd.
