Speaking to E! News , Ferrell said that it is possible that Ron Burgundy could return in another installment.

"I'm sure [Paramount] would [want a third film]," Ferrell said, adding: "But I don't know.

"We just want to see what happens with this one and we'll sit down and access all of that. Right now, we're just enjoying this journey."

He also addressed comments made by his co-star Carell earlier this year that Meryl Streep wanted to cameo in Anchorman: The Legend Continues .

"We got it on good authority that she wanted to be in the movie, but when we sussed it out it couldn't happen for one reason or another," Ferrell recalled.

The actor went on to say: "It might have been we threw her the part and she was like, 'Is that it? I don't want to do that!' That just made us laugh to think of her being in it or even considering it."

Ferrell will preview the release of Anchorman: The Legend Continues by appearing as Ron Burgundy on Conan on November 21.

The sequel to Anchorman will hit cinemas a month later on December 20, 2013.
