Earlier this year, Iron Man 3 opened in 42 territories with $198 million. Almost as impressive is Thor: The Dark World's debut in 36 markets with a whopping $109.4 million total so far! This puts it on course for a massive opening on Friday in North America, where analysts predict it will take close to $100 million during its first three days. The sequel - directed by Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor - was shown on 136 IMAX screens in 27 countries delivering $5.2 million from those alone. This is a mighty start for the Avenger and a clear sign that Marvel Studios can do no wrong with fans and moviegoers alike! You can read my 5* review of the movie by clicking HERE.

Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s "Thor" and "Marvel’s The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
