ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas native Selena Gomez will perform at halftime when the Dallas Cowboys host Oakland on Thanksgiving Day to kick off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.

Gomez will be the featured singer during the Nov. 28 event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The 21-year-old actress and pop star grew up in nearby Grand Prairie. Gomez was on hand for Sunday's announcement at the stadium.

The Thanksgiving show will be part of the Salvation Army's 123nd annual holiday giving effort that features red kettles for donations. The campaign runs through Christmas Day.

The 2012 kickoff show featured country star Kenny Chesney.
