Cult AMC favorite "The Killing " is getting resurrected for a third time. Netflix plans on airing six new episodes of the series for a fourth, final season.
AMC will not be involved in the final season, but stars Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos, the writing staff and crew are all on board. The final episodes will involve a new case, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, said in a statement: "The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off. We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing."
"The Killing" was first canceled in 2012 and then again in September 2013.
The series, which is based on a hit Danish crime thriller, centers on three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives, the victim's family, and the suspects.
Many fans stopped watching after the first season because the show failed to reveal who killed Rosie Larsen.
