LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- 
Caption Adam Shankman, Zac Efron Zac Efron fell and broke his jaw last weekend and his longtime friend (and former “Hairspray” boss), Adam Shankman, says he is helping nurse Zac back to health.
“I have been at his house every day and I have been making him soup. He has been drinking it through his straw,” Adam told Us Weekly. “He has to eat through a straw on a syringe. It’s horrible.”
Luckily for Zac, Adam is quite the chef and has been whipping up gourmet liquids “from scratch” for his buddy, including “a beautiful cream of asparagus” soup.

“He’s like my little brother, has been since ‘Hairspray,’” Adam said. “So I talk to him like a little brother, which means I give him a lot of s**t!
“He’s in great sprits. He’s just like, ‘Oww. It hurts,’” he added, of Zac’s mentality after the injury.

As for how the 25-year-old heartthrob (who completed a stint in rehab earlier this year) managed to incur such a painful injury, Adam said Zac has never been the most graceful guy off-screen.
“He has always been a klutz,” Adam joked. “This is like a perfect Zac move.”
