L.A.-based celebrity stylist Mary Alice Haney — she of the Manalapan Haneys, for those of you who thought the name sounded familiar — will be in Palm Beach on Monday to debut her just-launched Haney Prêt-à-Couture collection.

Haney, along with her local “ambassadors” — Meg Haney Ferguson, Mae Haney Grennan, Sara Groff, Katelin Haney, Heather Henry, Merrillee Holt, Alana Henry Kagan, Michelle Haney Maddux and Talbott Maxey — are hosting the debut trunk show, which is set for noon to 3 p.m. Monday at Gypsy boutique, 450 S. County Road.

Haney’s “demi-couture” concept is to give women the opportunity to create a customized dress from the 20 or so base styles that she offers. That means choices of color, fabrics, lengths, necklines and even some design elements that can be specified by the client to make a dress that no one else owns, and that’s made for her body type.

Making women look glamorous, and individual, for an evening out is Haney’s goal. Her designs combine the luxurious details and sleek silhouettes of the 1970s with the drama and sophistication of Old Hollywood. Haney cites Critobal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel and Jimmy Galanos as major influences on her aesthetic.

All Haney clothes are made to order in Los Angeles, with finished garments delivered in about six weeks.

For those of you who don’t want to be seen “coming and going,” as many an island woman has expressed in wearing high-end designer clothes, Haney’s style-it-yourself idea might just be the way to go.

Prices range from $1,000 to $5,000. For the Palm Beach show, Haney is donating 10 percent of sales proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Party prep — It’s not a question of what you’re doing Tuesday night (New Year’s Eve). It’s “what are you wearing?”

Seasoned Palm Beachers heading out to swank parties know that it’s the little details that make a stylish statement.

• Women may want to stop by Neiman Marcus, 151 Worth Ave., to check out an Edie Parker clutch to carry for the night. Designer Brett Heyman’s acrylic clutches have a retro-chic look, and they are being scooped up by the dozens since they first arrived on the island a few weeks ago. No two are alike. The clutches, in a variety of shapes, are priced from $995 to $1,495.

• If you ask jeweler Jennifer Miller to pick out the earrings of the moment, suitable for finishing off a festive evening look, she immediately suggests a pair of Oscar de la Renta tassel earrings. Available in two lengths and a variety of colors, the earrings cost $395 a pair at Jennifer Miller Jewelry, 5 Via Mizner.

• Guys going for the “full penguin” New Year’s Eve can dress up their black-tie look with a nice pair of hand-crafted Begum Khan cuff links, direct from Istanbul and available at Barzina, 66 Via Mizner. The silver- and gold-plated bronze cuff links, which feature semi-precious stones and enameling, take design inspiration from the era of the Ottoman emperors. They are $360 to $475 a pair.

Worth a mention — In the January issue, Esquire salutes what its editors call the finest men’s specialty stores in the United States. Among them, noted as a haberdasher that stands the test of time, is Maus & Hoffman, 312 Worth Ave. The firm has been an island supplier of gentlemanly attire for more than 50 years.
