A former 1970s anchorman is still kind of a big deal thanks to Ron Burgundy.
Mort Crim — who Will Ferrell said was the inspiration for his character in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” — appreciates the joke.

The 78-year-old veteran newsman with a baritone voice said the film is a satire and he doesn’t take offense at Ferrell’s performance.

“I think the first movie was a parody of anchor people,” said Crim, who has worked in Detroit and Philadelphia and is now retired in Florida.
Crim talks about how true to life Burgundy is.

“The second is a parody of the whole 24-hour news cycle. The key moment is when Burgundy says, ‘Why do we have to give them what they need? Let’s give them what they want.’ ”
