Two new beauties crowned at pageants

Bianca Vierra of Brea Canyon was crowned the new Miss California Teen USA and Cassandra Kunze of Beverly Hills was named the new Miss California USA.
Contestants from local cities and throughout the state competed Friday and Saturday in the two beauty pageants.
The winners were crowned after the final competition Saturday night at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach.
Local contestants included Sasha Ulysse of Long Beach and Nelly Umeh of Lakewood in the Miss California USA contest, and for the teen event, there were Taylor Cassady of Long Beach, Rykiah Parks of Belmont Shore and Saby Ramirez of Signal Hill.
Hundreds of women from across California competed in the categories of interview, evening gown and swimwear for the coveted crown and a chance to be Miss California USA, then perhaps even Miss USA.
In addition to the title and glory, the pageant winners receive a number of perks, including a modeling contract, a scholarship to Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, a wardrobe for the national competition, photo shoots, beauty and tanning services, private pageant coaching sessions, a year’s supply of nail polish and more.
