The photos of Rihanna’s bruised face caused outrage among many fans. Brown pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault as part of a plea deal.

In July his probation was briefly revoked after he was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles, but it was later reinstated in August.

The singer has also been involved in subsequent altercations with fellow musicians Drake and Frank Ocean, though neither of those resulted in criminal charges.
