Chris Brown was scheduled to make his first appearance in front of a judge at the Washington D.C. superior court on Monday afternoon (October 28) in connection with an alleged assault that took place early Sunday morning.

According to a spokesperson for the D.C. U.S. Marshal's Service, as of 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Brown remained incarcerated on the felony assault charge, marking the longest time the singer has spent behind bars to date in his various run-in with the law.

Brown was arrested following an incident in which he got into an altercation with an unnamed man outside the W Hotel on K Street, with TMZ reporting that Brown punched the man once in the face, reportedly breaking his nose.

Sources said the Brown and the victim did not know each other and that Brown's friend/bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was also arrested on a felony assault charge in the incident. Brown is still on probation in connection with his 2009 guilty plea to felony domestic violence assault in connection with his attack on ex-girlfriend Rihanna and at press time it was unclear how this latest arrest could affect his probation. As part of a plea deal in the Rihanna case that allowed him to avoid any jail time, Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and more than 1,400 hours of community labor.

The victim reportedly told TMZ that Brown broke his nose, which may require surgery and that the altercation took place after the man and a friend photobombed a picture Brown, 24, was taking with two female fans; the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Brown's camp has denied that version of events, saying the alleged victim and another male attempted to board the singer's tour bus. Unnamed law enforcement sources told the site that after the victim and a male friend jumped into the shot, Brown allegedly said, "I'm not into gay sh--, I'm into boxing," and then punched the man.

In August, Brown turned himself in to Los Angeles authorities in connection with a hit-and-run case, spending an hour
at the Van Nuys jail, arriving at 2:40 p.m. and leaving at 3:22 p.m. After his probation was revoked in that case, he was facing up to four years in jail, but avoided doing any major time after his lawyers reached a compromise with the alleged victim.

He also avoided any jail time tied to a possible probation violation after a scuffle with singer Frank Ocean
earlier this year in which Ocean declined to press charges and a bottle-smashing fight
last year between his and Drake's crew at a New York nightspot in which several bystanders were injured.
