Almost $72,000 was raised Thursday night at Strut Your Stuff, a fundraiser for Dress for Success, held in the Casino Regina Show Lounge.

“What a great night!” said Carla Kouri, board chair for Dress for Success Regina, which provides clothing and support for women re-entering the workforce. “It was definitely a successful night.”

Live auction items included everything from a Jason Robins painting created by the artist on stage during the event which raised $1,400, to a personal wellness package that went for $1,250.

Silent auction items ran the gamut from designer fashions to jewelry to one dozen roses each month for one year.

The evening showcased “the little black dress.” The program offered two segments. The first featured fashion guru Dean Renwick demonstrating tips for accessorizing the wardrobe staple. Then a lineup of designs was presented by Saskatchewan designers, including Dean Renwick Designs, Amaranth Designs by Rea Harbus, Sova Design by Sherri Hrycry, Shefali Mattoo Designer Collections, Natalia K Designs by Natalia Kulichenko, Timeless Shadows by Tracey George Heese, C’est Danine Designs by Danine Schlosser, Sister Ceece by Celeste Pinder, and Hillberg & Berk jewelry by Rachel Mielke.

Dress for Success Regina success story Deepshikha Pawar shared her experience, thanking the organization for the empowering support and stylish fashions.

Miss World Canada, Camille Munro, who is a Dress for Success volunteer, made a surprise appearance dressed in a Natalia K gown and wearing her Miss World Canada sash and crown.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Dress for Success Regina suiting program, providing economically disadvantaged but employment-ready women with interview-appropriate suits and accessories. As well, it will support the organization’s Professional Women’s Group, to provide women with career skills, life skills and networking opportunities.
