DJ Pauly D may be turning to Snooki for parenting tips — how’s that for a statement! — as the Jersey Shore star has announced he is a proud new papa.
The MTV star and DJ, born Paul DelVecchio, told celebrity gossip site TMZ that he is “proud” to be a new father to baby Amabella, whose mother is a 26-year-old woman who the Jersey Shore star met in 2012 in Las Vegas: “I am excited to embark on this new part of my life,” he said of Amabella, who was born on May 15, 2013.
And in spite of the fact that DelVecchio, who took a DNA test to confirm that he is the child’s father, doesn’t know the infant’s mother very well (or, in the parlance of Jersey Shore, the two simply “hooked up”), a source told E! News that he’s “hoping to develop a relationship with her.”
“[He] wasn’t exactly planning for it to happen this way” the source said. “But God works in mysterious ways.”
DelVecchio isn’t the first Jersey Shore cast member to welcome a bundle of fist-pumping joy: His co-star, Snooki (born Nicole Polizzi) had a baby boy, Lorenzo, with her boyfriend Jionni LaValle in August 2012.
