Fans of "The Hunger Games" and the latest installment in the series, "Catching Fire," understand the important role that Katniss' personal stylist, Cinna, plays in her life after the first Reaping. What they may not be aware of is the real-life relationship between Jennifer Lawrence and Lenny Kravitz.
Kravitz has been close with the Academy Award-winning actress since she bonded with his daughter, Zoe, on the set of "X-Men: First Class." Since then, Lawrence has been much more than a fellow castmember to Kravitz, as he told MTV News' Josh Horowitz at the red carpet premiere for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
"[Lawrence] is part of the family," Kravitz said. "She has been since she first came home with my daughter, but she's a beautiful person. I love her very much."
The relationship between the real-life Katniss and Cinna wasn't the only one on set. Kravitz also spoke about the strong bonds among the entire cast of the film, which hits theaters on Friday.
"That's the thing," he said. "That's what made it so beautiful because, yes, we're making this incredible film, but the thing that made it so wonderful was that we all get along so well and really enjoy spending time together. It was a lot of fun."
For the most part, the "Hunger Games" team has remained the same between the first and second films, with one big exception. Francis Lawrence took over directing duties from Gary Ross, but Kravitz explained that the change didn't affect the on-set environment at all.
"Different director. Different way of work, but just as wonderful," he said. "Both films are really wonderful films."
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" opens in theaters on Friday.
