Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy and Christina Applegate is Veronica Corningstone in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
This December, Emerson College will welcome Hollywood’s premiere make-believe news reporter, Ron Burgundy, during an Anchorman 2 promotional stop at its Boston campus.
Will Ferrell will assume his Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues character on December 4 to “share his path to journalism greatness with students,” The Hollywood Reporter writes. Additionally, Ferrell will give a news conference in character, and preside over a campus ceremony during which the college renames its journalism school the Ron Burgundy School of Communication. Paying parents of Emerson journalism students rest assured: your hundreds of thousands of dollars will not have been wasted on a school willing to forfeit its integrity for an afternoon with Will Ferrell—the communication school will only be renamed after the comically sexist newsman for the day. (And your son or daughter will totally get a great Instagram opportunity out of the arrangement, so it all works out.)
Emerson college president Lee Pelton has already issued a statement on the event, saying that Burgundy “understands the power of media, as well as hairspray, firsthand.”
Other legitimate institutions helping Paramount promote Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues include the Smithsonian, which is currently host to an Anchorman exhibit which features the comedy character’s flute, mustache brush, and his colleague’s “Sex Panther” cologne.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues arrives in theaters on December 20.
