Disney's latest effort, Frozen , overtook Catching Fire this weekend for the first time in the three weeks they've both been in theaters. The animated feature earned $31.6 million in comparison with the Hunger Games sequel's $27 million, Box Office Mojo reports.
The Christian Bale drama Out of the Furnace , which was the only new wide release this weekend, bombed in its debut, earning just $5.3 million for a third place finish.

Thor: The Dark World fell a spot to No. 4 with $4.7 million, while Delivery Man ticked up a spot to No. 5 with $3.8 million.
At No. 6 was the Jason Statham action flick Homefront with $3.4 million.
The Book Thief held steady at No. 7 in its fifth week in theaters, taking in $2.7 million. Rounding out the Top 10 were The Best Man Holiday (No. 8, $2.7 million), Philomena (No. 9, $2.3 million), and Dallas Buyers Club , which edged back into the Top 10 from No. 12 with $1.5 million.
