Daenerys Targaryen has found herself a new gig.
According to Deadline, "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke has just landed the role of Sarah Connor in "Terminator: Genesis," the highly anticipated reboot of the science fiction franchise from "Thor: The Dark World" director Alan Taylor. Just last week, "Zero Dark Thirty" actor Jason Clarke was announced to be in talks for the coveted (and highly competitive) role of her son, John Connor, the savior of the human race who was previously portrayed by Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl and Thomas Dekker.
The iconic science fiction heroine of Sarah Connor was first portrayed by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron's 1984 original, "The Terminator," as well as in its follow-up, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Clarke's "Game of Thrones" co-star, Lena Headey, portrayed "the mother of all destiny" on the small screen, in Fox's "Terminator: The Sarach Connor Chronicles" series.
"21 Jump Street" actress Brie Larson and "The Wolf of Wall Street" star Margot Robbie were also reportedly considered for the role of John Connor's mother.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back in "Genesis" in what is said to be his first major appearance since "Rise of the Machines."
"I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it needed to be more about [Schwarzenegger]," James Cameron told MTV News. "I told him he should not do it until it's focused on his character or he shouldn't do it. I think there are some great stories that can be told about that character that haven't even been thought of yet."
"Terminator: Genesis," the fifth film in the series, theaters on July 1, 2015.
