Ron Burgundy, or Will Ferrell acting as Ron Burgundy, made good on his promise to appear at the Canadian Olympic Curling trials this week. He showed up, slid some big rocks on ice, and made a bunch of jokes about being in Winnipeg, or as he calls it, “The Paris of Canada.”

Ferrell gave a press conference as Burgundy to local media in which he talked about bringing curling to the people of San Diego (even though his channel’s ratings “plummeted” when they showed the sport) and then yelled at the people in the arena to be quiet when he was speaking. It’s decently funny. He also explains that “Winnipeg” comes from Latin and means “the small tundra bunny who lives inside the hole on the hill.”

The stunt was the latest in a long line of promotional work for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which included Ferrell appearing on a local news telecast in Bismark, North Dakota this weekend in one of the weirdest bits ever. It’s hard to tell if Ferrell is making fun of the other anchors, or just doing the news straight as Burgundy, or what. They don’t seem to know what to do either.
