Pop princess Britney Spears was hospitalized after a standoff with police on January 3, 2008. The event coincidentally took place on the four-year anniversary of her 55-hour Vegas marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander.
Spears had refused to give up custody of her two kids to representatives of her ex-husband Kevin Federline. The four-hour dispute ended with Spears being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher.
The singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and lost visitation rights with her kids. Though she was released from Cedars-Sinai a couple days later, she would be committed again a couple weeks after that, an event that would lead to her father being given a temporary conservatorship over her finances.
