PLAYGROUND, ENTRANCE & CAR PARK WORKS START AT THE MANOR FIELDS: Works have started on an all-abilities playground, new entrance roadway, upgraded car park, footpaths and lighting at Adare’s Manor Fields. The facility which is currently closed is expected to reopen at the end of November. As you may know the ARCC are working to an overall plan which was developed from discussions with the community and these works are the first part of this plan. Over time it is planned to deliver multiple grass sports pitches catering for all codes, which includes championship grade GAA and Soccer pitches, large synthetic pitch, tennis courts, lighting, cricket playing and training areas, 2km of trim & exercise trails, changing facilities, spectator shelters & viewing areas, and pavilions. As well as keeping the facility open over the last 3 years, the ARCC raised in excess of €100,000, which has been used to secure Leader grant aid from West Limerick Resources. In fact this project would not have been possible if not for the support and funding from West Limerick Resources. The vision for this project is to see the Adare Community own and manage the best, all codes, sports & recreational facility in the country. West Limerick Resources have supported and helped develop this vision and now we intend to deliver on the rest of the plan. The playground which is included in this phase, has been carefully designed to cater for all abilities and includes, zip wire, large climbing units, trampoline, swings, junior building unit with sand digger and sand play area, fairytale shop, tunnel, swing basket, story telling area, Seesaw, slides, picnic benches, seating and much more. ARCC hope to use the opening of the playground and entrance as an opportunity to present the overall plan and the anticipated phases of development to the people of Adare and wider community. Financing will be difficult and the ARCC will be launching a fundraising plan to help deliver the next phases. Your support will be important.
