She has been living in London for more than a year, but Ashley Roberts clearly thinks the best item of clothing for a chilly October evening is a pair of hotpants.

The former Pussycat Doll, 32, was spotted wearing a modest pair of leather shorts as she attended the Co-Operative Be Inspired Gala Dinner in central London's 8 Northumberland Avenue, last night.

The event, which was hosted by Ed Chamberlain and Amanda Davies, encourages young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to embrace sport.

Wearing a smart white shirt with a fitted blazer, the American-born singer off-set conventional autumn fashion with the micro-shorts, showing her tanned, toned legs off to perfection.

She capped the look with strappy shoes which exposed the tattoo on her left foot.

Her accessories were a simple silver chain, which she wore over her shirt, three rings and a leopard-print clutch bag.

Naturally, the look raised eyebrows for its optimism - not least because temperatures across the capital slumped last night to just seven degrees.

Fortunately, the Dancing On Ice judge will have no problem gaining access to more suitable attire. Earlier this year she launched her very own collection of dresses for Key Fashion.

More than a simple capsule collection, there are 37 designs to choose from.

Costing between £80-£300, Arizona-born Ashley justified the price range by saying they've all been made using quality fabrics to give them a glamorous edge.

The blonde cites Nicole Ritchie and Kate Bosworth as her style icons because of their 'funky, sophisticated and edgy' style.

Whilst she will be giving a selection of her dresses to her celebrity friends to wear out on the town, there is one person who she would love to see donning her designs - Kate Moss.

'I have grown up watching her style evolve,' she told MailOnline. 'She is my number one, my go-to girl.'
