Meridian, Miss. If you're looking for a wedding gown and like to help others, an event this weekend in Meridian is for you.
The non-profit Brides Against Breast Cancer will have a charity wedding gown sale Saturday at the Northeast Conference Center and Hilton Garden Inn 111 Hwy. 11 & 80.
Show manager, Lori Hagey, says 700 to 800 new and gently-used designer gowns are included in the sale. She says they are valued from $100 to $2500. Layaway is available.
The organization has 120 of these type shows each year to raise money for free cancer support programs.
"We raise about $2 million a year," said Hagey. "And that actually goes to our parent company which is Center for Building Hope. We are headquartered out of Sarasota, Fla., and that is where the programs that we fund are held."
The Brides Against Breast Cancer Wedding Gown Sale is Saturday, Oct. 12, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.00 and are available at the door.
A V.I.P. event in which the gowns can be tried on is being held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost is a $20 tax- deductible donation.
