A Cirque du Soleil performer slipped and fell off the "Wheel of Death" during a performance at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Friday night, the company stated on its Facebook page. The company, which features a mix of circus arts and street entertainment, reported the accident halted the show and the artist was transported to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada.

Cirque does not reveal the names of artists injured during a performance but the Las Vegas Sun cited sources that identified him as Junior Delgado. The longtime "Wheel of Death" artist performed the act in the show "Zarkana" since it opened in November 2012, the Sun reported. Delgado was also in the cast during the show's run at Radio City Music Hall in New York and is expected to return when healthy, the Sun reported.

The entertainment company was not as fortunate earlier this year when on June 29 artist Sarah Guillot-Guyard, 31, died after falling more than 90 feet to her death during a performance, the Sun reported.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Cirque $25,235 and the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino $7,000 last month after authorities determined the rope that was holding Guillot-Guyard up broke during the show, the Sun reported.
