TROY, Alabama -- Dothan native Brandi White was crowned Miss Troy University on Saturday during the 43rd annual pageant on the Troy Campus.


White is a sophomore majoring in elementary education at the university.


Overall, thirteen students competed for the crown during the pageant in the Claudia Crosby Theater.


Contestants were judged on a private interview, an on-stage question, swimsuit, talent and evening gown.


During her time as Miss Troy, White will serve as an ambassador for the University and will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June. Her platform is “Transforming Lives through the Arts,” and she is a member of the Phi Mu sorority as well as a Leadership Scholar.


Minoring in dance, White has been cast in leading roles in the Southeast Alabama Dance Company’s productions of “Clara,” “The Nutcracker,” “Aladdin,” “Peter Pan” and “The Beauty and the Beast.” In addition, she is also the founder and teacher of “CLARA,” a dance camp for underprivileged children in Dothan.
