Angelina Jolie took time off work from directing her second movie to treat her five-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne to lunch in Sydney yesterday.

The 38-year-old had her hair in a ponytail and wore a simple black top and skirt with matching shoes.

The mother of six was spotted sitting in Grandfather's Moustache restaurant in Rose Bay, laughing as she kissed and cuddled the twins.

Vivienne revelled in her mother's attention, sporting a huge grin as she wrapped her arms around Jolie's neck.

Knox, sipping a Solo, happily sat with his head against the star's chest.

Jolie then clasped the twins' hands tightly as they left the restaurant.

Just before going to the restaurant, Jolie and her brood stopped by a toy shop next door where Vivienne emerged carrying a doll.

It is believed Jolie and her family - including partner Brad Pitt and their four other children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh - have taken up residence in the 1920s Vaucluse mansion Villa Igiea for the next few months while filming the World War II drama Unbroken.

Unbroken chronicles the life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken by Japanese forces in World War II.

The film, based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand, is set for release in December next year.
