What money trouble? Dean McDermott is fighting back, exclusively telling Us Weekly that despite a buzzed-about recent interview, he and wife Tori Spelling are doing just fine financially. Earlier this week, the mother of four was quoted saying that the couple couldn't afford a vasectomy, leading many to presume the parents of four were flat-out broke.

"Right now things are going well," McDermott, 46, tells Us. "I have several exciting projects in the works. Our show Dean and Tori's Backyard Bash just re-aired to great ratings, I'll be the new host of Chopped Canada and I have my first cookbook coming out -- The Gourmet Dad, in the spring," he points out. "Tori's book (Spelling It Like It Is) just launched this week and things are good."

And, about that vasectomy thing? "Could we afford a vasectomy? Probably," he says now. "Was it a tougher time for us financially? Yea. For sure. That's just the truth of it -- it's the nature of this business," he explains of their woes in recent months.

He adds: "Sometimes things are awesome, sometimes they're just not. But it's about how we tackle things as a couple, as a family. And we do a pretty good job of that. Right now we have so many cool things going on -- we're in an uptick."

McDermott and the former Beverly Hills: 90210 star eloped to Fiji in 2006 and have four children together -- Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 13 months. Spelling was born into wealth as the daughter of legendary Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling.
