Ariana Grande, whose career is really taking off following her debut album Yours Truly, opened up to Complex about being a sex symbol, and a fellow pop star, Miley Cyrus.
Grande, 20, who is dating The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes, said she isn’t comfortable with a “sex symbol” status.
“I don’t see myself as sexy. And I’m not comfortable being sexy and dressing sexy. I don’t see myself ever becoming a sex symbol," she told Complex’s December issue.
Someone who could be put in that category is Miley Cyrus, who’s the same age as Grande.
"Miley [Cyrus] looks like she is having the time of her life, and I think anybody who's giving her a hard time is wishing deep down they were having as much fun as she is right now,” said the singer.
She went on to say that she wants the focus to be put on her music, not her body or what she’s wearing, Us Weekly reports.
"If it's not in your taste, don't look at it,” she said. "I don’t feel comfortable flaunting my body that much yet. I don’t need to do that to show I’m grown up. I don’t want people to talk about my choices or how little I’m wearing. I just want the conversation to be about the music and what I’m creating."
