Chart Moves: Boston Returns to Charts, Daft Punk's Biggest Selling Album - Billboard

This week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Garth Brooks logged his ninth No. 1 album with his new box set "Blame It All On My Roots," while Britney Spears collected her ninth top 10 with "Britney Jean." Brooks' box sold 146,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 8, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Britney Jean" bowed with 107,000.

As usual, there were a number of movers and shakers outside the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this week. Let's take a look at some of them:

-- Boston, "Life Love & Hope" - No. 37 - It's the act's first new entry since 2002's "Corporate America" debuted and peaked at No. 42. The new album is also Boston's highest-charting set since 1994's "Walk On" entered and peaked at No. 7. This is the sixth studio effort for Boston, which saw its self-titled debut hit No. 3 in 1976.

-- Various Artists, "ONXRT: Live From the Archives 15" - No. 62 - The annual charity collection, from WXRT in Chicago, starts with 11,000. (It was available exclusively at Chicago-area Targets and Target.com). Last year's debuted and peaked at No. 63 (12,000). This year's set includes in-studio recordings from Blondie, Jimmy Cliff (from 1978), Phoenix and more.

-- Celtic Woman, "Home for Christmas" - No. 86 - PBS' concert special "Home for Christmas" began airing on Nov. 30, which is the likely driver behind the 59% gain for the album this week (and its re-entry at No. 86). The vocal act is also on tour, with dates scheduled through Dec. 22 in the U.S.

-- Johnny Mathis, "Sending You a Little Christmas" - No. 80 - The legendary vocalist (and favorite around the holidays) rises to his highest rank on the chart since 1978 with his new holiday album. (It jumps 178-80.) He last charted higher with that year's No. 19-peaking "That's What Friends Are For" (with Deniece Williams).

-- Soundtrack, "Glee, the Music: The Christmas Album Volume 4" - No. 105 - Combined, the three previous "Glee" Christmas albums have sold 1.5 million (with 1.1 million of that from the first release in 2010). The new set, which debuts at No. 105 with 7,000 sold, is six-songs long, whereas the previous efforts were all full-length affairs and reached the top 20.

-- Daft Punk, "Random Access Memories" - No. 147 - A week ago, "Random Access Memories surpassed Discovery to become Daft Punk's biggest-selling album. (846,000 vs. 836,000.) "Random" now ranks as the No. 23 largest-selling dance/electronic album of the Nielsen SoundScan era (1991-present). "Discovery" is the No. 26 largest.
