Animated Disney film Frozen has iced out The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to take the top spot on the U.S. box office chart. The princess fairy tale, featuring the voices of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, earned $31.6 million (£21 million) in its second weekend on release, edging out The Hunger Games sequel's $27 million (£18 million). The figure has helped boost Catching Fire's global take to $673.4 million (£448.9 million) in just three weeks, almost as much as the $691.2 million (£460.8 million) haul the original movie grossed in its entire run last year (12). Meanwhile, Christian Bale's gritty thriller Out of the Furnace failed to draw anywhere near the same amount of interest - the film debuted in a distant third place with $5.3 million (£3.5 million).
