Katy Perry revealed she hadn’t ‘dealt with’ her broken marriage to Russell Brand, instead ignored it while ‘eating Cheetos and drinking.’ Perry learned her new love with Mayer would take a hit as a result.

Katy Perry is taking her message of healing after heartbreak on the road in 2014, with a "Prism" tour following the success of her fourth studio album.

But in a new interview for Marie Claire magazine’s January issue, the pop star, 29, also explains how her personal well-being has improved since her last tour.

"There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, 'OK. All right. I can't feel this. This is too intense right now,'" Perry said.

The pop starlet admitted she barely took a break to "deal with" the end of her marriage to comedian Russell Brand in December 2011, as the divorce happened concurrently with her worldwide "Teenage Dream" tour.

"I was, like, just eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos and drinking, and that's it."

Months later, in 2012 the "California Gurls" singer began her relationship with current beau John Mayer, but saw that new union also take a temporary hit when they split in August of that year. Perry said she still hadn't faced her personal issues.

"It was like a splash of cold water to search inward on what was going on with me," she told the magazine.

"That is what let me to this new awakening, this realizing, if I don't do some self-love, I'm not going to be able to keep the love that I want. I still needed to deal with all of my ex-husband stuff."

Perry explained that her strategy for personal peace and relationship success includes the "bravery to be vulnerable and truthful and honest." Now, she says, her relationship with Mayer, 36, is a "mature" one.

"He's just a fantastic partner," she added. "I've been a fan of his for such a long time. He's got a brilliant, brilliant mind."
