Valerie Gatto will represent Pennsylvania at the 2014 Miss USA Pageant.
Gatto was crowned Miss Pennsylvania USA 2014 on Sunday following pageant competition at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport.
Contestants were judged in the categories of swimsuit, evening gown and interview.
The Miss USA Pageant is part of the Miss Universe Organization owned by Donald Trump [Unlink] and NBC Universal. The winner of the Miss USA competition will represent the United States at the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant.
If Gatto wins the Miss USA pageant, she will become the second Pennsylvania titleholder to wear the national crown. The first was Miss Pennsylvania USA 1971 Michele McDonald.
Gatto was crowned by Miss Pennsylvania USA 2013 Jessica Billings, who finished in the top 15 at the 2013 Miss USA Pageant.
“ In December 2012, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration,” she said in an interview with Pretty Living PR. . When I graduated, I knew I wanted to travel. So, this summer, I traveled to France, Germany, and Italy. In Italy, I was an English tutor. I taught English to Italian children in various cities around Italy. In each city, I stayed with a different host family. I immersed myself in the Italian culture while impacting the youth of Italy! I fit in perfectly in Italy, not only because I am Italian, but my favorite movie is Goodfellas, my favorite television channel is the History Channel and my favorite television show is Spartacus! Also, I am a conversationalist, I can talk to anyone about anything!”
