From twerking at the VMAs to licking a hammer and swinging nearly nude on a wrecking ball, Miley Cyrus had many a moment in 2013. One of the most talked about artists of the year, Miley ramped up the crowd as the clock counted down to midnight in Times Square, performing her hits "Get It Right" and "Wrecking Ball." (Insert Miley swinging from the Waterford Crystal countdown ball joke here.)

Before stepping up to the stage, Miley chatted with Ryan Seacrest about her biggest year yet. Wearing a white, floor-length fur coat and glittering gold bodysuit (still showing a flash of her stomach), she said she dressed in accordance with "standards and practices" — not to mention the New York weather was just a bit below freezing. Recapping her whirlwind year, Miley said her biggest moment was her now-infamous VMA performance. It was "the beginning of a chapter for me," she said.

Just a few hours before hitting the Times Square stage, the singer admitted she was feeling under the weather via Twitter, but that didn't prevent her from delivering a show-stopping performance on the eve of the new year. Surprisingly, Miley's tongue hardly made an appearance Tuesday night — not even for a kiss at midnight.

Earlier in the night, Ariana Grande and Mac Miller performed "The Way" on the West Coast, while Icona Pop and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis helped bring down the house in Times Square, counting down the last few hours of 2013.
