One day after they officially announced they were breaking up, the Jonas Brothers sat down on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday (October 30) to address the cause for the split.
The trio all sat down together for the first time since canceling their fall tour and deleting their Twitter account earlier this month, and detailed why they felt like now was the right time to call it a day as a band.
"I was actually the one that initiated the conversation," Nick said. "You know, we're family first and that's always been our main priority and so honesty within what we do as a group was really important. So I came to the table with the guys just before we were prepping to leave for tour and I shared my heart with them, my feelings."

Nick then recalled what he told his brothers during what he called a "tough conversation."
"I think in a nutshell I said, 'Look, I feel like we've had some complications with the new group for a long time without addressing them," Nick said. "I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real about some of the concerns and some of the limitations we may feel as individuals.' "
Older brother, Joe, then addressed, in more detail, some of the reasons they have decided to go their separate ways. "To just name a few, for us, as a band it was the music, for us, we kind of held on to it for so long. At one point, a year later, we still kind of felt like it was starting to get stale to us. There was just individual things that we were just butting heads about whether it was the way to [set up] a music video to even just whatever, even just personal opportunities," he recalled. "At some point we decided it was best to finish this and support each other in our ventures along the way."
The guys had been prepping the release of their next album, V, after having released two singles, "Pom Poms" and "First Time." And if fans were hopeful that the album might still see the light of day, Kevin confirmed they have no plans to release it in its entirety.
"The album will actually not be completed, but we will be doing something for our fans," Kevin said. "They have traveled with us and been with us for so many years that we did not want to just leave them without giving them back something.
"So what we've done is we're gonna release four of the unreleased songs from the album," he said. "The rest of the album will be never released ... we put together the live tracks from last summer tour, about 10 songs, so we'll actually be giving that to our fan club members as a gift."
Nick and Joe revealed they each are focusing on music and acting opportunities in the wake of the split, while Kevin shared that in addition to becoming a first-time father, he is also starting his own entertainment company.
"I think it was time and, for us, it took some getting there," Kevin said. "We feel like it's time that the Jonas Brothers comes to an end."
The guys teased that this doesn't mean it's the end for good. Nick added. "I think it's impossible to say forever with anything, but I feel like we're playing it one step at a time. Right now and, like we said, we're rebuilding as brothers first and starting from there."
