Alexandra woman Daphne Randle maintained her grip on the title of Central Otago's knitting queen on Saturday night, and also went one further, winning WoolOn's supreme award.
Mrs Randle has won the knitting award every year the Southland Times and Mirror-sponsored competition has been held and this is the second time she has won the supreme award.
Judges' spokeswoman Tracy Kennedy said the dress was technically "absolutely perfect".
"It was fully hand-knitted with shaping incorporated and fitted the model beautifully. It was an outstanding piece," she said.
The Otago Polytechnic senior lecturer in fashion attended the wool fashion show for the first time and said the standard of all the entries was very high. The felt section was particularly difficult to judge, she said.
"Personally, I'd love to see more entries, especially in the young designer section."
Organiser Martin McPherson described the event as an outstanding evening of fashion and fun for the sellout crowd of 400.
A lot of effort went into the show, with about 100 volunteers helping out.
"People just get completely blown away with it. It's a production on par with what you would see in metropolitan centres."
