And it seems the latest footage from Las Von Trier's Nymphomaniac could meet the same fate.
The first full trailer of the controversial new film, contains graphic scenes of a very sexual nature that many will find uncomfortable viewing.

Jamie Bell - best known for his breakout role in Billy Elliott - is seen holding a whip as he stands over a naked Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Gainsbourg who plays the titular role in the film, is seen attending a therapy session where she admits to being a 'sex addict', and later, left bruised and battered lying on a bed.
The trailer has been made to promote the film in cinema as ahead of its release next year, but the extreme nature of the footage will be a huge turn-off for.

Bedtime stories: The film was written and directed by Lars Von Trier and is due for release in early 2014.
Little is known about details of the narrative, except that the film is based around Gainsbourg's character Joe who is a self-proclaimed sex addict.
Uma Thurman plays the wife of a husband who has sex with Joe, and is seen dramatically screaming and crying amid scenes of a very sexual nature in the trailer.
Shia LaBeouf, who also stars in the film, has previously spoken about his willingness to participate in the movie's pornographic scenes, which he says is all in the name of art.
'I have ethics. I'm not completely out of my mind,' he says.

'But I don't think there's anything wrong with sex. Sex is beautiful if it's done right. And I wouldn't just do it for no reason... Sex is different than love, and there is a separation, and that middle gap is what the movie's about.'
The four previously-released chapter trailers - there are eight in total - hint at the film's theme, though they are PG in comparison, featuring no nudity.
The movie is yet to be given a confirmed release date, though anticipation is definitely mounting thanks to these little snippets - all five are available on the film's official website, nymphomaniacthemovie.com.
