Have you ever loved a song so much you could listen to it all day long?
A new 24-hour music video by Pharrell Williams quite literally gives you the option.
The video for “Happy,”released Thursday, has Williams and a cast of dancers lip-synching across L.A. from sunrise to sunset. The catchy four-minute song is repeated on loop a total of 360 times.
It’s by far the longest music video ever made, dethroning Michael Jackson’s 39-minute epic “Ghosts.”
Williams also busts a move alongside a cast of celebrity guests, including Magic Johnson, Steve Carell, Kelly Osbourne, Jimmy Kimmel and Jamie Foxx.
An interactive clock allows viewers to scan through the daylong video, lessening the hefty time commitment. The song, which doubles as Williams’ contribution to the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack (there are Minions dancing too), can also be viewed in a condensed four-minute version.
It’s been a chart-topping year for 40-year-old Williams, who was featured on summer hits “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke and “Get Lucky”with Daft Punk.
Two other high-profile artists released their own interactive music videos this week: Bob Dylan with “Like a Rolling Stone” and Queens of the Stone Age with “Vampyre of Time and Memory”.
