The two-hour season finale of "Survivor" season 27 concluded just moments ago, and the winner was predictable.

Tyson Apostol, the skinny, long-haired "Survivor" veteran who emerged as the front-runner several weeks ago, is $1 million richer after winning most of the jury votes.

Tyson was one of three returning players to head into the finale without having been voted off and banished to Redemption Island. He emerged as a ring leader early in the game and persuaded his alliance to break up each remaining pair of loved ones competing in the game.

His strategy worked, and he managed to maintain a tight alliance with two other returning players — South Jersey native Gervase Peterson and Florida homemaker Monica Culpepper.

FINAL IMMUNITY CHALLENGES

Tyson, a former professional cyclist from Utah, solidified a spot in the Final 4 tonight when he won the first of the two final immunity challenges. Former Survivor winner Tina Wesson joined Tyson, Gervase, Monica and Ciera — the daughter of former contestant Laura Morett — in the first immunity challenge.

Tina fought her way back into the game by winning the last Redemption Island duel against Laura Morett and former "Big Brother" champ Hayden Moss. (Despite his athletic appearance, Hayden struggled in most challenges throughout this season. His failure to win immunity hurt him badly.)

survivor-2013-finale-jeff-probst.jpgThe winner of 'Survivor' season 23 - 'Blood vs. Water' - was revealed Sunday night by longtime 'Survivor' host Jeff Probst.

During the first tribal council tonight, Tyson, Gervase and Monica all stuck together, voting Ciera out of the game. Both Tina and Ciera voted for Gervase, who ultimately was protected by a hidden immunity idol Tyson gave to him.

The Final 4 turned out to be comprised of four returning players. No loved ones made it that far.

Tyson's hot streak continued as he won the final immunity challenge of the season, securing a spot in the Final 3. Voted out at the final tribal council was Tina, setting up the Final 3 of Tyson, Gervase and Monica.

Despite his dominance in the game, the big question on everyone's mind during the finale was whether Tyson alienated too many people serving on the Survivor jury. Tyson tried his best to persuade the jury to vote for him, saying, "Everything I did was strategic. Nothing was out of malice."

In the end, the jury agreed. Now Tyson is a millionaire.
