Bradley Cooper opens up about past alcohol and drug abuse - Gant Daily

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – In the January issue of GQ magazine, Bradley Cooper has opened up about his past struggle with alcohol and drugs about a decade ago, when his career was starting to flourish.

Without going into details, the 39-year-old actor said that “if I continued it, I was really going to sabotage my whole life.” He was 29 when he decided to turn his life around.

Cooper got a major break when he appeared alongside Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in the 2004 comedy “Wedding Crashers,” in a role which Cooper described as “a f***ing tyrant.” It was his role in this film that landed him the lead spot on David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook,” which earned him an Oscar nomination.

This also had effect on his work, Cooper admitting it “hindered” what he have to do, and the effect goes on until now, “because it’s a life experience. And all I do is bring life experience. That’s all anybody really does. It’s inescapable.”

Despite his experiences, the “American Hustle” star expressed that he does not regret any part of his life, though he admits that there were indeed sad times.

And lastly, when asked if he will opt to do things differently if given the chance, Cooper replied, “I’m glad I don’t have to.”
