Keira Knightley wearing a Rodarte dress at charity event December 2013 close up Keira Knightley[1] might just be the celebrity I’d put at the very bottom of my list of ‘people I expect to warm my heart today’, but I must have underestimated her, because she just pulled a fast one and rocketed straight to the top.

We live in a world in which most famous people wear an outfit once and put it back into the magical communal closet from Clueless [2] that I imagine all celebrities share, never to be seen again. It’s just a circle of rotating designer pieces, gathering dust in the chic-est way possible, and it’s a waste, but it’s what we’re used to. Everybody does it, because if you’ve worn something once, it becomes garbage and nobody can wear it ever again. Everybody knows that.

But props to Keira Knightley, because she seems to be trying to change things up and be a little more realistic about fashion, which I love. She’s worn one dress in particular, a strapless, off-white Rodarte dealie, not once, not twice, but THRICE[3] . Three separate times, she showed up at an event wearing a dress she’d already worn, brow shining and flags waving, ready to do battle with celebrity standards of wastefulness.

And in case that isn’t impressive enough for you guys, one of those events was her own wedding. Her own wedding, you guys! So adorable! She wore the dress initially at a pre-BAFTA party in 2008, against this May to marry James Righton, and then again last night with a sheer, long-sleeved beaded portion added to the top.Three. Times. And she’ll probably wear it again, because she’s proven she really loves it.

So just to catch you up, not only is Keira totally showing up other celebrities by wearing an outfit more than once — she’s totally showing up every human on earth by wearing her wedding gown more than once. How many of you can say that?

Kudos to Keira. Although in fairness she probably doesn’t need them, because she’s the one who gets to be reminded of her own wedding day every time she wears this beautiful gown. Love it.
