Dothan's Brandi White Crowned Miss Troy University - WTVY, Dothan

Thirteen Troy University students competed for the title of Miss TROY on Saturday in the 43rd annual pageant on the Troy Campus. TROY- Brandi White, a sophomore elementary education major from Dothan, was crowned Miss Troy University on Saturday during the annual pageant on the Troy Campus.

Thirteen students competed for the crown in the 43rd annual pageant, which was held in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus. Contestants were judged on a private interview, an on-stage question, swimsuit, talent and evening gown.

As Miss TROY, White will serve as an ambassador for the University and will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June.

White, whose platform is “Transforming Lives through the Arts,” is a member of the Phi Mu sorority and a Leadership Scholar. Minoring in dance, White has been cast in leading roles in the Southeast Alabama Dance Company’s productions of “Clara,” “The Nutcracker,” “Aladdin,” “Peter Pan” and “The Beauty and the Beast.” In addition, the Dothan High School graduate is the founder and teacher of “CLARA,” a dance camp for underprivileged children in Dothan.

Hannah McDonald, a senior elementary education major from Prattville, was first runner-up and also winner of the swimsuit competition. McDonald, a Prattville High School graduate, is a Compassion International sponsor and is a member of Phi Mu, Greeks Advocating Mature Management of Alcohol, and the Troy University Student Alumni Association.

Caitlin Mosley, a senior biomedical science major from Pace, Fla., was named second runner-up. Mosley attends TROY on a Millennium Scholarship and is a member of the Order of Omega, Phi Kappa Phi and Tri Beta honor societies. A member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Mosley is a founding member of the Troy University Rural Health Association and vice president of Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Professional Honor Society.

Mary Kelly Cantrell, a freshman music education major from Sylacauga, was named third runner-up. Cantrell, a graduate of Sylacauga High School, also won the talent portion of the competition, performing the vocal aria “Adele’s Laughing Song.” She attends TROY on a Chancellor’s scholarship.

Amanda Ford, a senior broadcast journalism major from Helena, was named fourth runner-up. A graduate of Pelham High School, Ford is a Troy University Leadership Scholar, President of Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and a news anchor and reporter for Troy University’s TrojanVision News.

Connor Murphy-White, a senior theatre and music industry major from Greenville, was named Miss Congeniality. The Greenville High School graduate is a member of Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Pie Eta and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. She has been active in various choral ensembles including Collegiate Singers and Concert Chorale and a member of Alpha Psi Omega, national dram society.
